Tyumen State University is university in Tyumen, Russia. The University of Tyumen was the first university in Tyumen Oblast. It was founded in 1930. Nowadays the UT consists of 12 institutes and trains qualified specialists in 175 fields. The UT offers various forms of study: full-time, part-time, evening, distance education, master's degree, undergraduate education, graduate, doctorate, advanced training, and second degree.

The development of universal primary education formed a desperate need in professional teaching staff, therefore in 1930 was founded the first Tyumen higher educational institution. Students of the Agricultural and Pedagogical Institute of Tyumen studied agriculture, chemistry, biology and physics.
